David Ortiz continues to recover from a scary shooting incident in the Dominican Republic, and now he's getting treated in Boston. The latest update, a positive one, comes from his wife Tiffany.

Mrs. Ortiz issued a statement on Tuesday morning through the Red Sox that her husband underwent a successful second surgery at Mass. General Hospital after arriving on Monday night. He's in stable condition at ICU where he's expected to stay for the time being.

Here's the full statement from Tiffany Ortiz:

"David arrived at Massachusetts General Hospital last night and underwent a successful second surgery. He is stable, awake, and resting comfortably this morning in the ICY where he is expected to remain for the next several days.

On behalf of my and my family, I want to thank John and Linda Henry, Tom Werner, Sam Kennedy and the Boston Red Sox for all that they are doing for David and out family, as well as Dr. Larry Ronan and the amazing staff at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Lastly, I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and love that we have received during this incredibly difficult time. We ask for privacy as David works toward recovery."

Questions remain about the shooting, the reasons behind it, the shooter's motivation, who the bullet was meant for, etc. But the important thing right now is that the beloved former Red Sox megastar is in stable condition and expected to fully recover. He may still have a long process ahead after such serious injuries, but he's on a good track.
