David Ortiz has returned to Boston, where he will now be treated at Massachusetts General Hospital after being shot at a bar in the Dominican Republic Sunday night.
Ortiz landed in Boston around 10 p.m. local time after being flown back to the United States from a medical facility in Santo Domingo. The team confirmed the arrival of the plane about 20 minutes later.
The Red Sox organization sent a plane to the Dominican to transport Ortiz to Boston when doctors determined he was stable enough to fly.
Members of the Boston Police Department motorcycle unit were on hand to escort Ortiz to MGH.
