RALEIGH, N.C. -- It would appear that the Bruins are going to have to sweep their third-round series against the Hurricanes without captain Zdeno Chara, who is not on the ice for the team's pregame warmup at PNC Arena.

The 42-year-old Chara was not on the ice for Wednesday's practice at PNC Arena, but did speak with reporters following the game, and did hit the ice for this morning's optional morning skate.

This will be the first playoff game Chara's missed since Game 2 of Boston's first-round series against the Canadiens back in 2011.

It appears that John Moore, who has not played since Game 6 of the team's first-round series against the Maple Leafs, will suit up in place of Chara. Moore has a minus-2 rating and three shots on goal in three postseason appearances this spring.

But it will be Matt Grezlcyk who skates as Chara's direct replacement to the left of Charlie McAvoy. The Bruins will keep the Torey Krug-Brandon Carlo pairing together, too, meaning the B's third pairing will feature Moore and Connor Clifton.
