Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox plan to activate David Price from the injured list at some point next week, barring any setbacks as the left-hander works his way back from elbow tendinitis.

Price is set to throw a bullpen session on Friday at Fenway Park. If all goes well, he will likely take the ball as part of Boston’s four-game series in Toronto.

At this point, it is unclear what day the Sox plan for Price to return.

According to manager Alex Cora, the Sox considered activating Price for this weekend’s home series against the Houston Astros, but the organization felt starting Price in the dome in Toronto would be better for the lefty, given the cold weather in Boston.

Price has been on the injured list for the past two weeks. He last pitched on May 2 against the Chicago White Sox.
