The Boston Celtics announced via Twitter on Sunday that guard Marcus Smart is officially questionable for Monday’s Game 4 against the Milwaukee Bucks. Smart has been recovering from a left oblique tear suffered on April 7 against the Orlando Magic.
Sunday marked four weeks since Smart sustained the injury, which was initially given a 4-6 week timetable for recovery. The guard’s “Questionable” designation indicates that he could be ready to return for Game 4 on Monday night.

One Celtic who is certainly excited for Smart’s impending return to the lineup is Kyrie Irving. Per Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe, the Celtics’ highest offensive rating with any guard pairing is 114.1 with both Irving and Smart on the floor.
“[Smart’s] a big part of our team,” Irving told reporters after practice on Saturday. “He alleviates a lot of different pressures out there throughout the game. It makes my job a lot easier. So whenever you have the possibility of him returning it is always a positive.”
The Bucks took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series on Friday with a 123-116 win over the Celtics.
