Vagabond big man Greg Monroe is on the move once again, as he’s signed a rest-of-season contract with the Philadelphia 76ers following the expiration of his 10-day contract with the Boston Celtics.
Signed to a 10-day contract following an injury to Aron Baynes, the 6-foot-11 Monroe appeared in just two contests over his 10-day contract with the C’s, totaling six points and three rebounds in 4:49 of action in total.
This was Monroe’s second stint with the C’s, but with Baynes back in action sooner than the Celtics originally anticipated, it was somehow less memorable than the last one.
Monroe’s move to Philly also continues a bizarre year of touring as a bit-player for Eastern Conference playoff teams for the 28-year-old, as Monroe drew into action for 38 games with the Toronto Raptors before joining the Celtics for two games.
The Celtics, meanwhile, will finish their home-and-home with the Miami Heat tonight in South Beach.
In addition to being without Monroe, the Celtics are expected to play without both Marcus Morris and Jaylen Brown, as C’s coach Brad Stevens has put the emphasis on making sure his team is healthy and ready to go for the postseason.
