Red Sox unveil opening day roster
The Red Sox have released their opening day roster, and there are no notable surprises in the initial 25-man unit to start 2019.

The Red Sox have released their opening day roster, and there are no surprises with the initial 25-man unit to start 2019.
The Sox will carry 13 pitchers in Dustin Pedroia's absence. First baseman Sam Travis will take Steve Pearce's roster spot with Pearce opening the season on the injured list.
Infielders (6): Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts, Eduardo Nunez, Brock Holt, Mitch Moreland, Sam Travis.
Outfielders (4): Andrew Benintendi, Jackie Bradley Jr., Mookie Betts, J.D. Martinez.
Catchers (2): Christian Vazquez, Blake Swihart.
Pitchers (13): Chris Sale, David Price, Nathan Eovaldi, Rick Porcello, Eduardo Rodriguez - Matt Barnes, Ryan Brasier, Colton Brewer, Hector Velazquez, Brian Johnson, Heath Hembree, Brandon Workman, Tyler Thornburg.
