Report: Celtics sign Greg Monroe to 10-day contract

The Celtics are bringing Greg Monroe back to Boston.

Boston Celtics center Greg Monroe (55) looks to pass against Cleveland Cavaliers center Kevin Love (0) during the second quarter of game two of the Eastern conference finals of the 2018 NBA Playoffs at TD Garden.

The Celtics are turning to a familiar face to make up for the loss of Aron Baynes to a sprained ankle, as they have signed center Greg Monroe to a 10-day contract, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

A 6-foot-11 big, Monroe appeared in 38 games for the Raptors this season, where he averaged 4.8 points and 4.1 rebounds in 11:07 a night, before a trade to the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets, of course, waived Monroe almost immediately.

The move back to the Celtics comes after a 2017-18 season that saw Monroe signed by the Celtics after a buyout from the Suns.

An off-the-bench veteran presence thrown into action for 26 games in Boston in all, Monroe rewarded the C's trust in his skills with 10.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game as a Celtic.

The Celtics are in Charlotte for a head-to-head with the Hornets tonight.
