New England Patriots

By Matt McCarthy,

Trey Flowers got paid in a big way.

Nearly 24 hours after news broke of the former Patriots defensive lineman planning to sign with the Detroit Lions, details have now emerged on just how much Flowers is expected to earn once the league year officially opens on Wednesday.

And it’s a lot of money.

Flowers’ contract represents the largest handed out so far this free agency period. He surpasses the contracts signed by quarterback Nick Foles ($88 million with $50 million guaranteed in Jacksonville) and linebacker C.J. Mosley (five years, $85 million with the Jets).
