If you wanted fireworks before the NBA trade deadline, the Philadelphia 76ers just launched an M-80.
The Sixers acquired forward Tobias Harris, center Boban Marjanovic, and forward Mike Scott in a blockbuster six-player trade with the Los Angeles Clippers overnight on Wednesday. Philly's package to Los Angeles includes shooting guard Landry Shamet, veteran swingman Wilson Chandler, and big man Mike Muscala. They also sent the Clippers first-round picks in 2020 and 2021 (the latter unprotected via the Heat), and second-round picks in 2021 and 2023. Adrian Wojnarowski reported the details of the trade at 2:35 a.m.
Harris, 26, has played 519 career NBA games with the Bucks, Magic, Pistons, and Clippers. This marks the fifth time he's been traded since the Charlotte Bobcats drafted him in 2011, when they shipped him to Milwaukee shortly afterward. He was most recently swapped for Blake Griffin in a previous six-player deal between Detroit and L.A. just over a year ago.
The oft-traded but productive Harris is currently averaging career highs in points, rebounds, and assists (20.7/7.2/2.7). He's also shooting a career-best .496 from the field and averaging 2.0 three-pointers per game. He slides right into the Sixers' starting five, which now looks like this:
PG: Ben Simmons
SG: J.J. Redick
SF: Jimmy Butler
PF: Tobias Harris
C: Joel Embiid
The Fresh Prince of Philly
Harris commented on the trade via Twitter with a clever reference to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, in which Will Smith moves from Philadelphia to his uncle's opulent neighborhood in California. In the case of Harris, he's going in the opposite direction across the country - but he joins a potential contender for the Eastern Conference title.

Harris should give the fifth-seeded Sixers a marked offensive boost and put pressure on the No. 3 seed Celtics, who are embroiled in trade deadline drama of their own.
