BOSTON – The Celtics didn’t have Kyrie Irving or Marcus Morris available, but they didn’t need two of their five starters to smoke the Dallas Mavericks 114-93 at the Garden Friday night.
The Green led by as much as 17 points in the first half, but saw Dallas cut the lead to one point in the third quarter. The Celtics started hitting their shots again and held Dallas to 15 points in 15 minutes to put the game away.
Jaylen Brown had a big night in his return to the starting lineup, putting up 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting.
Gordon Hayward had 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists off the bench.
Dirk Nowitzki, in what may have been his final game in Boston, went 0-for-10 from the field. Nowitzki was a bucket away from passing Kobe Bryant for the most points ever scored by a visiting Western Conference player at TD Garden.
The Celtics host the Brooklyn Nets on Monday.
