Celtics Beat 76ers in Christmas Classic, Kyrie Scores 40

BOSTON -  There was no stopping Kyrie Irving on Christmas night.

Kyrie scored 40 points to propel the Celtics to a 121-114 win over the Philadelphia 76ers in overtime.

Irving scored 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting in the first half, then took over the game late in the fourth. He hit the game-tying shot with less than 30 seconds to play in regulation. He then hit two huge three-pointers in overtime to put the game away.

Philadelphia's Joel Embiid had 34 points and 16 rebounds. Jimmy Butler added 24 points for the Sixers.

Marcus Morris and Jayson Tatum had 23 points for Boston. Terry Rozier added 10 points off the bench.

The Celtics play the Rockets in Houston on Thursday.
