Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox will start David Price, not Chris Sale, in Sunday night’s Game 5 against the Dodgers as they try to clinch the World Series.

Manager Alex Cora made the surprising announcement after Game 4, saying he would go with Price on short rest in place of Sale.

Sale, who has been battling a shoulder issue since late-July, will be available out of the bullpen in Game 5 and is in line to start Game 6.

Price threw six innings in Game 2, record two outs in Game 3, warmed up at least twice during Game 4, and will now be called upon again after clinching the pennant on short-rest against the Astros.

The Dodgers will counter with their ace, Clayton Kershaw as they look to force the series back to Boston for Game 6 Tuesday night.
