Patriots players don't often say anything too crazy when they do radio interviews. That's why cornerback Stephon Gilmore made a lot of ears perk up with his comment on the Jaguars' Jalen Ramsey.
The latter has run his mouth a lot in the early-going, particularly with his trash-talk toward pretty much every quarterback in the league. He also described the Chiefs' Tyreek Hill as a "return specialist" before the Jaguars' loss to Kansas City last Sunday.
That kind of talk isn't Gilmore's style, mainly because he doesn't have as much breath to talk like that - because he doesn't play as much zone as Ramsey does in Doug Marrone's defense in Jacksonville.
"A lot of guys that talk are mostly zone guys, so they have a lot of energy to do that," said Gilmore during his interview with 98.5 The Sports Hub's Zolak & Bertrand on Wednesday.
Shots fired. Among NFL cornerbacks, describing someone as a "zone guy" is basically the same as saying "you can't cover." Ramsey is certainly a better cover corner than Gilmore's comment would indicate, but this is some epic shade nonetheless.
Hill was kept in check against the Jags, catching four passes for 61 yards. But he did beat Ramsey deep one-on-one here:

Audio of the full interview will be available later on Wednesday. Perhaps Ramsey will have taken the bait and fired back by then.
