Boston Red Sox

CLEVELAND – The Red Sox will have to wait at least another night to set a new franchise record for wins.

The Sox lost to the Indians 4-3 in 11 innings Sunday night in Cleveland in a game that took over four hours to play.

Greg Allen picked up a game-winning single in the bottom of the 11th off Robby Scott, who came into the game with the bases loaded.

William Cuevas took the loss, but pitched well before running into trouble at the end of his outing. The righty threw 93 pitches in 5 1/3 innings of two-hit relief.

Hector Velazquez got the start for the Sox and allowed two runs over 3 1/3 innings.

Mookie Betts had a big game, doubling twice and hitting his 31st home run of the season as part of a 4-for-6 night. Betts scored two of Boston’s three runs.

Xander Bogaerts left the game with a tweaked shoulder after fouling off a pitch in the seventh inning. He is considered day-to-day.

The Red Sox will return home Monday to open up a three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles. Nathan Eovaldi (5-7, 3.98 ERA) will take the ball against right-hander Dylan Bundy (8-15, 5.37 ERA).
