CLEVELAND – The Red Sox lost to the Indians 5-4 in extra innings Saturday night in Cleveland.
Michael Brantley delivered a walk-off single with the bases loaded in the 11th inning off Drew Pomeranz.
Pomeranz gave up two singles and issued an intentional walk to Francisco Lindor before Brantley’s game-winner. Pomeranz did not record an out in the inning and dropped to 2-6 with the loss.
Joe Kelly worked the Sox out of a jam in the 10th inning after Brian Johnson walked the first two Indians hitters. Kelly struck out Josh Donaldson and Yonder Alonso before inducing a groundout to end the inning.
Johnson walked four men in total, but tossed three scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
The Red Sox tied the game in the eighth on a two-RBI double by Andrew Benintendi off Brad Hand.
Blake Swihart and Rafael Devers added solo home runs. Devers has now homered in back-to-back games and has 19 on the season.
Rick Porcello gave up four runs on eight hits over five innings of work.
