New England Patriots

The newest (and final?) episode of “Tom vs. Time” is now available, simply called “Epilogue”. You can watch it in the above video via Facebook Watch.

Here’s a rundown of the most notable quotes from Brady during the epilogue…

— On why he skipped Patriots offseason workouts to spend more time with his family: “I just think I needed something different this year. My family needed something different. I’ve got to be able to spend enough time with [my kids], because I want to. You’ve got to see them grow. You’ve got to see them develop. You’ve got to be there for them.”

— On why he prioritized seeing his kids more during the offseason: “If they’re not gonna get it from August through January, then they’ve got to get it from February through July, or else I’m not doing my job as a parent. I think being able to be available to them in ways I never have been is something that I’m never gonna regret.”

— On his enjoyment of football: “The last couple years, a lot of parts about football weren’t enjoyable when they should’ve been. Some of it was my approach … I think any time you’re together with people for a long time, relationships ebb and flow. And I think people are just looking for something to write and talk about.”

— On the media coverage of the Patriots’ reported internal issues: “I’m sure a lot of teams have things like that, but ours is just to the 10th degree. I’m learning to deal with it better. I don’t give a [expletive] that much anymore about anything. I think a lot of keeping things in perspective … nothing’s that big a deal to me anymore. Maybe I’m just caring about certain things that really matter, like my family, like people’s health, like life and death. But to worry about a lot of bull-[expletive] that people may say or think or feel … I really don’t care anymore.”

— On why he “would love” to play until he’s 45 years old: “It’ll be a challenge to me. I don’t think its gonna be easy. It’s [expletive] gonna be hard to do … but I think I can do it. Once you stop, you’re done. I think I’m not ready to say that I’m done, because I don’t feel like I am. I still feel like there’s things to accomplish. [It would] be like getting close to the top of the mountain and saying, ‘I’m good, I’m good.’ It’s like, ‘No, you worked really hard to get to this point, why not finish it off?’ … I think the last eight years of my career have been better than the first 10, so I should just prolong it. Thats what I’m trying to do.”
