Pearce Drives In 3 Runs, Red Sox Top Braves 5-1 In Atlanta
Steve Pearce went 3-for-4 with three RBIs as the Boston Red Sox defeated the Atlanta Braves 5-1 at SunTrust Park on Wednesday.
Rick Porcello improved to 16-7 on the season with a strong outing, allowing just one run in five innings with five strikeouts. The only Braves run came on a Kurt Suzuki solo home run in the second inning. The Red Sox bullpen combined for four shutout innings to hold the Braves lineup down.
Boston improved to 96-44 on the season with the win. With 22 games remaining in the regular season, they lead the Yankees in the AL East by 8.5 games and have a magic number of 15 to clinch the division.
