New England Patriots

The New England Patriots have traded safety Jordan Richards to the Atlanta Falcons for a conditional seventh-round draft choice, according to Jim McBride of the Boston Globe.

A second-round pick out of Stanford in 2015, Richards was largely been a bust during his three-year tenure in New England.

Last year was especially bad, as Richards totaled just 20 tackles in 16 regular-season games, and was absolutely torched throughout the team’s 41-33 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII.

Moving Richards before Saturday’s mass cutdown likely means that Jason McCourty, who has rotated between cornerback and safety throughout the preseason, is cracking the team’s 53-man roster.
