Noted Fun Expert, Eagles Lineman Lane Johnson Talks Trip To Foxboro

Philadelphia Eagles lineman Lane Johnson — the self-appointed Fun Czar of the National Football League and the most bitter person to ever win a Super Bowl — seemed beyond ready to deal with the hostile Gillette Stadium crowd in a ‘rematch’ of last year’s Super Bowl LII meeting on Thursday night.
Johnson wanted Patriots fans to raise hell and show their disdain for the team that beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl. While Johnson was ready for the boos he’d surely hear, he ultimately was not ready for an aggressive Patriot pass rush, which accounted for three first-half sacks (and finished the game with eight sacks in total) in a 37-20 win for the Patriots.
After the loss, the always-talkative Johnson was asked about the ‘fun’ that came with another meeting with the Pats.
“I guess,” Johnson said when asked if he thinks the Patriots had fun on Thursday. “It’s the preseason.”
Oddly enough, ‘the preseason’ wasn’t really something Johnson fell back on when trying to pump himself up for a meeting he said he had been looking forward to since the Super Bowl. (It’s a separate issue, I know, but it’s worth noting that Johnson absolutely needs to find a real hobby if he finds himself looking forward to preseason games within days of winning the Super Bowl.) But fine, the Patriots had fun because it was the preseason. I respect the Fun Czar’s ruling.
So, that definitely means they were having more than than they did in the Super Bowl, right?
“There wasn’t really a fun meter out there,” Johnson, who apparently left his fun meter back in Philadelphia, said.
“But I guess they had more fun because they won.”
Unfortunately for all involved, barring another Super Bowl showdown, Thursday was the last time the Patriots and Eagles will play until 2019. But following through and meeting in the former next February would be dare I say… fun.
