Yankees Crush Red Sox 8-1 in Series Opener in New York

The New York Yankees got off to a strong start in their three-game weekend series against the Boston Red Sox, winning 8-1 in the Bronx on the strength of four home runs, including two from first baseman Greg Bird.

Aaron Judge and Miguel Andujar also homered for the Yanks in the victory. C.C. Sabathia (seven innings, one run allowed) out-pitched Red Sox starter Eduardo Rodriguez, who allowed five runs (including two longballs) in six innings of work to fall to 9-3 on the season.
