Here’s something nobody thought they’d read this time last year: Based on an Instagram post on Thursday, it would appear that Lakers guard Isaiah Thomas is rooting for his former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, in the 2018 NBA Finals.

That’s no Photoshop job, either, as Thomas actually played just 15 games for the Cavaliers this past season before he was traded to the Lakers. (Again, you almost forget that this all happened because it’s just so absurd to recall.) During Thomas’ time with the Cavaliers, he was an absolutely miserable malcontent that question the Cavs roster and their coaching, all while shooting a career-worst 25.3 percent from behind the arc and averaging just 14.7 points per game.

The joke within I.T.’s post, however, comes with the fact that the 5-foot-9 Thomas will received a championship ring from the Cavaliers if they do indeed pull off the massive upset and beat the Warriors in this series.

It would even make Thomas’ Sept. 2017 post on The Players’ Tribune a reality, too, as he said that the Cavs were gonna win it all. Granted, he figured that would be with him replacing Kyrie Irving as the team’s No. 1 point guard, but nevertheless…

At least Thomas,  a free agent this summer and with no chance of anybody backing up the Brinks truck he thought was coming his way this time last season, can crack a joke or two about his incredibly bizarre situation a year after his MVP-caliber season.
