Patriots Sign Punter, Waive Undrafted Receiver With Non-Football Injury

The Patriots made a pair of minor moves on Monday. They signed rookie punter Corey Bojorquez and waived undrafted wide receiver Darren Andrews.

The 21-year-old Bojorquez played two seasons at the University of New Mexico, averaging 45.1 yards on 116 punts. Like fellow Patriots punter Ryan Allen, Bojorquez is left-footed.

Andrews, 22, signed with the Patriots on May 11, but will move to the non-football injury list if and when he clears waivers. The wideout tore his right ACL near the end of his senior season at UCLA in 2017. He started all nine games that he played prior to the injury, catching 60 passes for 773 yards and a team-leading 10 touchdowns.

Former Patriots tackle Tony Garcia also received the non-football injury tag when he was waived, but was claimed off waivers by the New York Jets.

Bojorquez will compete for a spot on the roster, while Andrews would not be eligible to play in 2018 once placed on the NFI/reserve list.
