The New England Patriots have five running backs, plus a fullback currently on the roster, but why not bring in another to make things interesting?
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Patriots are doing just that on Monday by bringing in former New York Giants running back Orleans Darkwa for a visit.
Through 15 games last seasons for the Giants, he rushed the ball 171 times for 751 yards and five touchdowns.
He finished the year with 19 receptions on 28 targets for 116 yards and zero touchdowns. And he got the starting nod in 11 games for a depleted running attack in New York.
Darkwa came out of Tulane University as an undrafted free agent in 2014 and was later signed and waived by the Miami Dolphins before landing with the Giants halfway through his rookie campaign.
Since entering the league, he's appeared in 52 games, while getting the start in 13 of them.
The notion that Darkwa could provide the same kind of production as Dion Lewis is debatable. But judging by last year's numbers anything is possible.
Last year Lewis finished the year with 180 rushing attempts for 896 yards and six touchdowns for the Patriots. In addition to 32 receptions on 35 targets for 214 yards and three touchdown through 16 games.
Lewis was listed as the Patriots' starting running back in eight games last year.
