Boston Red Sox

Hanley Ramirez delivered a game-winning hit for the second straight game for the Red Sox on Thursday afternoon. His deep 12th-inning “single” off Rays reliever Ryan Yarbrough sealed a 3-2 win for Boston for their sixth straight win since falling to Tampa Bay on Opening Day.

Ramirez went 2-for-6 with two RBIs on the afternoon. The Red Sox had 10 hits as a team.

David Price was excellent for the second straight outing, pitching seven shutout innings with just three hits and three walks and striking out five. Price has started off his 2018 campaign with 14 straight scoreless innings.

The Red Sox bullpen could not keep the game scoreless in the top of the eighth inning, as Carson Smith allowed a two-run home run to Matt Duffy to give the Rays a 2-0 lead. But the Red Sox battled back to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth, starting with another RBI single by Ramirez. After J.D. Martinez grounded into a double-play, Xander Bogaerts ripped a two-out, game-tying RBI double to score Andrew Benintendi.
