Boston Celtics

Al Horford’s buzzer beater jumper Sunday afternoon gave the Boston Celtics a 97-96 win over the visiting Portland Trailer Blazers.

With Sunday’s win, the Celtics have now won four straight and are now 5-5 over their last 10 games.

It’s becoming a recurring event that there’s a laundry list of players out for the Celtics. The C’s were once again without Kyrie Irving (quad), Shane Larkin (knee), Marcus Morris (hip) and Marcus Smart (hand).

The Celtics didn’t fare well in the first half, shooting only 31 percent from the field, while getting out-rebounded 28-to-19.

Terry Rozier III struggled from the field in the first half, hitting only one shot of his seven attempts, but he later redeemed himself finishing with 11 points (5-18 FG/1-7 3PT), six rebounds and five assists.

Following a 12-0 run, Portland was able to take a 54-38 lead into halftime.

After back-to-back quarters in which the Celtics scored only 19 points, the C’s came out in the third to score 31, to cut Portland’s lead to four heading into the fourth quarter.

With 7.2 seconds left in the fourth, the Celtics took possession of the ball, down one, after a Damian Lillard three-pointer.

The final possession went like this: Horford catches the inbound pass. Then he backs his defender down just to hit him with a spin move, which leads to fadeaway jumper from the right elbow.

With the win, the C’s are now 10-7 after when facing a deficit of 10 or more points.

Horford’s double-double led all Celtics with 22 points (8-12 FG/2-2 3PT), 10 rebounds and five assists. Rookie Jayson Tatum had 17 points (3-5 3PT) and Jaylen Brown dropped 16 points on Portland.
