Here we go, the playoffs for WWE opens tonight. The traditional over-the-top-rope 30 man battle royal is the main event, with the winner fighting either the WWE Champion (Smackdown) or Universal Champion (Raw) at Wrestlemania. PLUS the first EVER Women’s Royal Rumble!

There’s a lot of rumor and innuendo about some surprise appearances, and I’ve got it covered for you here with my Royal Rumble predictions.

Smackdown Tag Team Championship

The Usos (C) vs. Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin (2-of-3 falls match). To quote the Jacksonville lady, “Ya can’t have a newcomer come in and steal the show.” the Usos retain and carry the belts to New Orleans at Wrestlemania.

RAW Tag Team Championship

Seth Rollins & Jason Jordan vs The Bar. A feud that has lasted too long before Summerslam. Jason Jordan needs a title around him for now, and a guy like Rollins by his side. The pair retain and The Bar (Cesar and Sheamus) will begin a feud with Gallows & Andersen after the Royal Rumble.

WWE Championship 2-on-1 Handicap Match

AJ Styles (C) vs Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn. There have been some really weird things that have happened over the years in WWE, but there is no way a co-champion will be crowned. AJ retains and rides it all the way to New Orleans.

WWE Universal Championship

Brock Lesnar (C) vs Braun Strowman vs Kane. I can’t see Lesnar dropping the title to Strowman or Kane. A major credit to Kane being able to keep his character relevant for 20 years and in a main event! Strowman will get his time as a champion soon, but with Brock in the picture and under contract, he’ll walk out as Universal Champ and will break CM Punk’s record of being a champion (434 days) which happens to be this June.

WWE Women’s Royal Rumble

Thirty entrants will be in the ring for the right to fight the Women’s Champion of Raw or Smackdown at Wrestlemania. With Charlotte and Alexa Bliss on the sidelines, this opens the door for a popular pick like Asuka, Bayle or Sasha Banks. And with the rumors flying that Ronda Rousey will be a participant, she would be a favorite. But I’m going with Smackdown on this one and it will be Becky Lynch. A perfect opportunity to turn Charlotte heel and have the two “friends” go at each other setting up a great match at Wrestlemania.

WWE Men’s Royal Rumble

This rumble match is loaded with talent, and it’s hard to bet against a guy like John Cena, Randy Orton (last year’s winner) and Roman Reigns. And yes, Reigns could be a heavy favorite after dropping the Intercontinental Championship to the Miz last Monday on Raw. Cena won’t win, but I think this sets up a feud between he and Undertaker that will lead to a dream match at Wrestlemania 34. So, I’m going Smackdown in this Men’s Royal Rumble with Nakamura being the sole survivor. The WWE has teased Nakamura vs. AJ Styles and that’s what we will get in New Orleans.
