Obviously, the snowstorm began falling on Thursday morning. It caused the Bruins and Panthers to cancel their morning skates. And subsequently, the teams decided to call off their game at TD Garden.
Both teams and the officials are already in town, so cross-state travel wasn't exactly an issue. Bill Belichick and the Patriots didn't blink at the sight of the storm. But the Bruins and Panthers apparently decided otherwise.

Are The Bruins Playing Tonight? Here's What Happened Last Time...
A major nor'easter dumped 14.6 inches of snow in Boston last Feb. 9, according to CBS Boston. Under those circumstances, the Bruins still took the ice against the San Jose Sharks in Bruce Cassidy's debut as head coach.
Considering that Thursday's bomb-cyclone is expected to drop "only" 12 inches at the most, it's a bit of a surprise that the game isn't happening.
Bruins-Panthers: What To Know
-- The Bruins assigned rookie winger Anders Bjork to Providence on Wednesday. He'd been a healthy scratch for the last two games. With just five points in 18 games since the start of November, the talented-but-unseasoned 21-year-old is better off getting playing time in the AHL than wearing a suit on the ninth floor.
-- The Panthers (17-17-5) are coming off a road loss to the Minnesota Wild. But they won five games in a row prior to that game, so there's a chance they can give the B's a better challenge than they've gotten recently.
-- Tuukka Rask is 11-0-1 in his last 12 starts. He looks to continue the streak that earned him the NHL's First Star of the Month award for December.
We'll be sure to update you on the rescheduled date for Bruins-Panthers and any information for those who bought tickets to the game.
