Kelly Olynyk thundered into his former home at the Garden Wednesday night with a purpose, leading the Miami Heat to a 90-89 victory over the Boston Celtics.
Going 12 for 15 from the floor and 6 for 8 from the 3 point line, Olynyk posted a career high 32 points against the team that traded him away in the offseason for Gordon Hayward.
Kyrie Irving lead the Celtics with 33 points on the night, but missed the potential game-winning shot at the buzzer.
Jayson Tatum put up 11 for Boston, despite suffering a dislocated pinky early on in the first quarter. The rookie forward was taped up and returned to action shortly after.
Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart rounded out the double digit scoring for the night with 16 points and 15 points, respectively. Al Horford only put up six before fouling out.
The loss to the Heat sends Boston to a 26-8 record on the season.
The Celtics head for Manhattan on Thursday where they’ll take on the Knicks, tipoff at 8pm from Madison Square Garden right here on 98.5 The Sports Hub.
